Bee Removal From Under an FPL Light

bee removal from under fpl

At the time of our arrival, the beehive had positioned itself under the FPL meter cover, simply to try and complicate matters further with the entire power gear where the home is. It was to be done in a manner sensitive not to disrupt or get the bees stunned. The bees had drilled deep into the wood beneath the meter to build their nest – we had to cut down part of the timber to be able to reach the hive. The hive had been very creatively established, thus making it quite hard to accomplish the task, but we had known all along that we wouldn’t compromise either the meter or any large portions of its immediate vicinity.

The combs were carefully pried loose of the wooden sections. The hive became very large due to many bees that have attached their combs to the tree structure. Using our specialized tools, each comb is removed gently and placed in a box for relocation later, if needed. The bees seemed very placid, and it turned out to be considerably easier than we envisaged. It took some patience and observation as we completed the bee removal process.
