In this video you will see the bees inside a decorative rock with the house numbers still on the front of it. There are many methods of removing bees found in this scenario. Keeping the decorative rock or destroying the rock is a factor we must consider. In this case, the customer wanted the rock out of here. So we decided to break an opening on the rock with a sledge hammer. It was fairly brittle and easy to break open. I remember once the bees had attacked the gardener when he was mowing the lawn. These particular bees are called African Honey Bees. They are very dangerous, and can still attack in large numbers. That’s why they are called “killer bees”. Usually, we know when bees are killer bees over the phone because the customer tells us a story about an incident that has happened with the bees. In that case, the gardener got stung roughly 25 times and needed medical attention. When Africanized bees are startled, they attack anything that moves within 100 feet, including mail personnel, joggers, kids in neighbors pools. It can become a dangerous situation, so in this particular case, we had no choice but to exterminate the bees with a state approved insecticide. We then removed the decorative rock and properly disposed of it. Please keep in mind, whenever you are near bees, even if you don’t bother them, they may attack you. Africanized bees are very dangerous and if you ever encounter them, the best thing you can do is run, and run far. The further you run away, the less likely they are to follow, even though Africanized bees are known to follow you for the length of 300 yards, which is the length of 3 football fields.
