In this video, you will see bees that I’ve captured from a swarm on a branch and relocated them to the inside of a tree house. The customer wanted me to relocate them there so that the bees could keep on pollinating their flowers and mango tree. The owners of this home has a nice looking tree house and they thought it would be a good idea for their garden. Transporting the box of bees was the fun part. The bees sometimes crawled out of the box and made their way to the vehicle window. Yes, sometimes when we drive, the bees fly outside the box and the inside of the cabin gets filled with bees. When we do this we don’t wear a suit, and we don’t usually get stung either. We make sure the bees that we pick for relocation are the docile, European Honey Bees. As the bees make their way to the windows their mentality is not usually a defensive one. They really are just trying to find a way out in order to get to some flowers. The way other drivers look at us is always amusing. Usually it’s an expression of shock. We always make sure the air conditioner is always on to ensure that the bees do not overheat. We use different bee keepers that are happy to accept our bees. Sometimes we meet them half way, sometimes they come to us and sometimes we just drive to them and drop them off at their farm. Not all beekeepers are willing to accept these bees by the way. Some beekeepers fear that a percentage of these wild bees may be africanized. Africanized bees tend to conquer other hives instead of relocating to a new area. Knowing this, they fear that africanized bees may conquer their other colonies.
